Let 2017 be 'The Year of the Ace'

Everything seems to be coming up aces for the local disc golf community.

At least that is the case with an exciting new partnership between the Parkland Association of Disc Golf and the Painted Hand Casino.

The result of the partnership is ‘The Painted Hand Casino Ace Club’ launching Jan. 1, 2017.

If you are a PADG member and you throw an ‘Ace’ on a PADG course, (now 18 with the Association area), then get a bud to shoot a photograph of you, and the disc you tossed, standing at the glory basket, or tonal, and email it to padg.yorkton@gmail.com along with all the info, name, date, number of basket/tonal of the big shot, course etc, and receive a limited edition t-shirt.

How limited is the edition?

“We have had the artwork for the t-shirts specially designed, and they will only be printed when a PADG member throws an ace and lets us know about it, so it will be pretty exclusive,” said Calvin Daniels, president of the PADG. “That was the initial idea of an ‘Ace’ Club, to create something special for members to strive for.”

Daniels said once the idea came about, it was then a case of finding a partner to sponsor it.

“Our first thought was to approach the Painted Hand Casino. When you think aces, they are the obvious choice, and we thought why not double down on that connection with them coming on board with the PADG,” he said.

Gale Pelletier, Senior Operations Manager at the Painted Hand Casino, said they are excited to be involved.

“In discussions we learned interest in disc golf is booming with courses being developed all across what is largely the PHC’s core area too,” he said. “We are always looking to support good projects and we are happy to be involved with disc golf through this program.”

Daniels said he certainly encourages disc golfers to check out the PHC too.

“The PHC is noted as a great entertainment spot, and encourage disc golfers to support them in return,” he said. “We really appreciate all our partners.”

Details of the new program will be released in the next couple of weeks athttp://dulok44.wix.com/parklanddiscgolf
