Ladies award sponsor announced

The ROCK 98Five has come on board to sponsor the Parkland Association of Disc Member of the Year – Female.

“Having The ROCK come on board as a sponsor is great,” said PADG chair Calvin Daniels. “Disc golf is growing across our region, the PADG is pleased to be offering three awards to people who have been instrumental in that growth, and the ROCK’s support is certainly appreciated in making the award for Member of the Year – Female possible.”

Dennis Dyck of The ROCK said he saw sponsoring the award as a great way to support a growing sport in the region.

“It’s not hard to see the growth, courses are being developed all over the region, thanks in part to the efforts of the PADG,” he said. “So when I found out they sought a trophy sponsor I was pleased to jump on board.

“Maybe I’ll even get the station crew out disc golfing one day.”

Daniels said the PADG hopes the new sponsorship is just the first with the local area radio station.

“We have tournaments and events all across the region, so media coverage is important. The PADG looks forward to working with The ROCK to grow coverage of the sport in 2017,” he said.

The PADG is planning to present three awards at its AGM; The ROCK Trophy for females, and the Mark Zawerucha Remax Blue Chip Realty Yorkton for males, and the Cornerstone Credit Union Trophy for youth. The latter two sponsorship were announced earlier.

Details for PADG Member of the Year awards are still being finalized by Dec. 1, but there is a working framework being discussed, (so input is welcome);

The awards will be presented to members of the PADG, who best exemplifies involvement in disc golf within the PADG region.

Factors which may be considered in selecting the recipient include, but are not limited too;

• involvement as a player

• involvement in promoting the sport and recreation of disc golf at the local course level, helping with teaching the sport, attracting new players, helping with course events such as tournaments etc.

• involvement with the PADG; attending recognized tournaments, volunteering at Association events, etc.

In general terms anyone will be able to nominate candidates for PADG awards, (this allows for a local municipality as an example to nominate someone instrumental in a local course).

Nominees must be a PADG member.

The decision will be made by an appointed committee of non-PADG members.

No person may win the same award in consecutive years.
