Wadena gets first taste of disc golf tourney

Disc golf got something of a kick-off in Wadena Saturday as a tournament was held using temporary targets to promote the sport. Local disc golf fan and Parkland Association of Disc Golf director Mark Kienle hopes to work with the local municipal government to create a permanent basket course funded through donations and other sources. At Saturday’s event Mark Kienle topped the open portion of the event shooting a minus-three 115, through 36. Jason Kienle was second with a plus-three 121, with Adam Kienle third with a plus-14 132, and Joel Kienle plus-16 134 for fourth. In the Junior Division Haley Bilokraly topped the field with a 167, followed by Dante Slippery at 170, Cash Regier third at 172, and Chris Nattaccappo fourth with 173. Mark Kienle also captured the Yorkton Terriers Closet-to-the-Pin award and the Access Communications Longest Drive, with Haley Bilokraly capturing the BR Honey Award for ladies longest Drive. Joel Kienle had the chance at the Yorkton Fountain Tire Power Putt Award but missed on all three throws.
