Be the 'Big Dog' and eat well

When you win a tournament you are justified to think yourself ‘The Big Dog’.

And during the 2017 Parkland Association of Disc Golf Tournament Series that will be even truer.

Through a new partnership the men’s champ at stops on the series will receive a bonus reward; the Joe Beeverz Big Dog Certificate.

The frameable certificate will be accompanied by a coupon redeemable for one of the famous foot long hot dogs at Yorkton Joe Beeverz Bar and Grill.

“It was one of those obvious partnerships,” said PADG Chair Calvin Daniels. “I was having lunch at Joe Beeverz, the idea of a big dog being a nice bonus for the ‘Big Dogs’ winning our tournaments just hit me.”

Brady Harland, manager in Yorkton, said he immediately liked the idea.

“When approached with the idea it was pretty natural to get involved. Disc golf is certainly growing in the region, and we are happy to get involved.”

Trevor Lyons, Tournament Chair with the PADG said it’s great to have a new sponsor on-board.

Currently there are 17 courses, all within 125-kms of Yorkton. There were only three in the same region May 1, 2015, so growth has been significant, he explained. Part of the reason for the PADG has been the creation of a disc golf tournament series, the top finishers progressing to a year-end finals event.

“We are working pretty hard this off-season to build our tournament series for the coming summer, and ‘The Big Dog Award’ is part of that effort,” said Lyons.

In 2016, eight courses held events. The PADG is looking to build on that foundation in 2017, are already beginning work to that end, with a goal of near doubling the number of courses holding tournaments within the series.
